Big Brother Class

With little brother due to arrive in about 2 months everything is becoming a little more real. We need to make plans for Cooper while we are at the hospital and get him ready to be a big brother. To help with this we took part in a Big Brother/Big Sister class at the hospital. Cooper got to see where baby brother will be born and where he will come and visit. Cooper was very interested in seeing everything the teacher had to show.
(Cooper has his back to the picture, with his hand in his mouth. You may not recognize him with his hair cut.)

After the teacher was done showing everything in the birthing room she asked if any of the kids had any questions, of course Cooper raised his hand. Jake and I both looked at each other and had no idea what he was going to ask. This was his question, "I have lots of cars." The teacher handled it very well and everyone gave a little chuckle. As a teacher I wish the story ended there, but it doesn't. So we continue on with the tour and see the nursery, there was a baby in there so all the kids got take a look, was we were waiting for every one Cooper again raised his hand and told the teacher, "I have lots of planes." Again the teacher handled it wonderfully. For me as a teacher this is one of my biggest pet peeves, when you are giving a lesson and a student raises his hand and makes a remark that is TOTALLY off topic. I am left wondering, are they even listening to a thing I say? So now here is my son raising his hands and making these comments that are totally off the mark, oh he is making his mother proud. This happened two more times, "I have lots of trains." and the last one is a kicker, "I have a blue rubber band." Jake and I just shook our heads, what else can you do but the love the kid.

At this point all his comments were done and he did sit and listen to how to hold a baby. When it came time for him to hold a baby doll he came over to sit with us, he was unsure about that. So our next stop is going to be the library to find some books about becoming a big brother.
