Each summer the Luceros get together for an annual train trip. These trips started 5 years ago with my nephews Dallin and Jerron because they loved trains, I am starting to think every little boy does. These trips have grown every year adding another baby or a significant other.
This year we (all 20 of us) made our way down to Manitou Springs to take the Cog Railway Train up 14,115 feet to Pikes Peak. We all met at a park to have a picnic lunch and let the kids play. Then we made our way to to the Cog. It was a great ride to visit with everyone and see the excitement on the kids faces. We even spotted some Big Horn Sheep and a Marmot. The summit was a little cloudy but there was some breaks in the clouds for some breath taking views. The day wrapped up at my Uncle Mark's house for a delicious BBQ.
Cooper would blow his whistle when ever another train would pass.

The view on the train ride was beautiful!
Trees were at a 26 degree angle. Strange to realize they were straight and we were the ones at the angle.

The Meyer family on top of the world.
(Our niece Aleanna snuck in)

Once we got off the train to look around at the summit all Cooper wanted to do was get back on the train.

Once we were at the summit it was a little hard for me to fully enjoy the view. The drop offs were scary, especially since Cooper wanted to hike on his own. He is in that stage where he wants to do things on his own. So the rule was made he had to hold a hand at all times! I am happy to report we did not lose any kids or adults for that matter.

The Lucero Family.
Mom, Dad, 4 siblings, 4 significant others, and 6 grandkids.
Not pictured, because they are taking the picture my Uncle Mark and his family.
